Spirit in the Light

sunlight and rays through giant trees

There are ineffable moments in nature that can only be portrayed by an image. Light is the most elusive and important element in these moments and capturing it requires knowledge of the environment.

Marine mist forms when wind from the cold ocean meets the warmer land.  Once the sun warms the surface the mist vanishes. Before then magic happens.

The west coast of Vancouver Island is home to the cold Pacific Ocean where mists love to drift through the temperate rainforests and send their haunting tendrils through the moss covered branches.

There is a quiet other worldliness to these fleeting times, to experience them is to touch at the heart of what it is to be part of this extraordinary land.
